Termite Control in Greater Noida

Quick answer

For an existing home in Greater Noida or Greater Noida West, SKUAS drills along the floor-wall junction and plinth, injects Envu Premise SC into the soil and seals the holes, following the IS 6313 (Part 3) method. If your building is still under construction, a reticulation system is the better choice. We quote after a free inspection of the property.

Greater Noida is newer than Noida, but termites are already a regular complaint here. In the Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta sectors, independent houses built on authority plots now have woodwork that has spent years in contact with ground-floor walls and floors. In Greater Noida West, which many people still call Noida Extension, families who have moved into towers at Gaur City and the societies around it sometimes find termites in a newly fitted kitchen or wardrobe.

Large parts of Greater Noida were village fields and open land before the authority developed them, and subterranean termite colonies stay in that soil long after construction ends. In a finished home, the only way to put termiticide back into the soil is through drilled holes along the floor edges and plinth, which is what the IS 6313 (Part 3) method describes. Our part is to check which rooms are affected, which walls carry the attack and what woodwork needs separate treatment.

Signs of termites to check in Greater Noida

Mud tubes

Thin tunnels of soil running up the plinth, walls, pillars or behind skirting. Subterranean termites build them to travel from the soil.

Hollow wood

Door frames, skirting or wardrobe bases that sound hollow when tapped, or crumble at the bottom edge.

Discarded wings

Small wings near windows, lights or door sills after warm days followed by rain. A swarm means an established colony is close by.

Pellets, not mud

Tiny, dry pellets under furniture or frames point to drywood termites, which are found mainly in coastal cities.

Blistered paint or tunnels

Bubbling paint on walls or fine tunnels in wood panelling and wiring battens.

Why termites are a problem in Greater Noida

Open plots and empty land between sectors

Many Greater Noida sectors still have vacant plots, open land along roads and patches of scrub between built-up pockets. This undisturbed ground holds termite colonies that forage into the nearest houses. Homes sharing a boundary with an empty plot or a green belt usually show mud tubes first on the side facing that land, along the plinth or behind ground-floor skirting.

Wings at corridor lights after rain

Termites swarm after a few warm days followed by rain, mostly in the monsoon and post-monsoon period. In high-rise societies in Greater Noida West, residents often see winged termites around corridor and balcony lights on such evenings. Swarmers that fly in from outside are not proof of a problem in your flat, but wings found inside, near a door frame or window, point to a colony close by.

Ground-floor and lower-floor flats

In tower societies, flats on the ground and lower floors, along with shops and the clubhouse at podium level, are closest to the soil. Termites usually reach them through floor joints, expansion joints and gaps around plumbing and cable entries. When an upper floor reports termites, we look for a route such as a service shaft, or wooden furniture brought in from an infested home.

Subterranean species and the soil they live in

IS 6313 records about 220 termite species in India and identifies subterranean termites as the group behind most building damage. Coptotermes heimi is widespread across the country and attacks woodwork and furniture in homes. These termites live in soil and travel through mud tubes, so the treatment has to reach the soil beneath floors rather than only the wood above it.

How we treat termites in an existing building

For a building that is already finished, the chemical has to reach the soil under the floor and along the foundation. We follow the method set out in IS 6313 (Part 3), the BIS code for treating existing buildings. This is commonly called drill-fill-seal.

  1. Inspection and mapping. We trace how far termites have spread and how they enter, checking floors, skirting, door frames, panelling, wiring battens and switchboards, and remove the mud tubes.
  2. Floor-wall junction. 12 mm holes are drilled at about 300 mm intervals along the junction of floor and walls, and along floor joints, deep enough to reach the soil. Each hole takes termiticide emulsion until it stops absorbing, up to 1 litre, and is then sealed.
  3. Masonry at plinth level. Walls are drilled at a downward angle of about 45 degrees, around 300 mm apart, so the masonry and the soil under it are soaked, then the holes are sealed.
  4. Woodwork in contact with walls and floors. Door and window frames are treated through 6 mm holes drilled at about 45 degrees, with up to half a litre per hole. Badly damaged timber is replaced.
  5. Soil outside the building. Where the soil along the foundation is open, it is treated along the outside walls. Where there is a concrete apron, it is drilled about 300 mm apart and treated through the holes.
  6. Sealing and handover. Holes are sealed and the area cleaned. You get a treatment record and the SKUAS written service warranty for your property.

We use Envu Premise SC (imidacloprid 30.5% SC), one of the termiticides listed by CIB&RC for building termite control, mixed at the dilution on its label. It is odourless and non-repellent, so termites carry it back to the colony.

Greater Noida and Greater Noida West are covered by our team from the New Delhi head office on Okhla Road, usually via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. For tower societies, please book a work slot with the maintenance office, since drilling machines and chemical containers have to come up by the service lift.

Frequently asked questions

There is no single rate. We work it out from the floor area of the flat, the number of rooms and walls that need drilling, how widely the termites have spread and how much kitchen, wardrobe and door-frame woodwork has to be treated. A free inspection gives you a written rate, and we do not publish a fixed price.
After an inspection, we drill small holes where the floor meets the wall and along the plinth, pump Envu Premise SC into the soil below, treat the woodwork that touches walls and floors, and seal the holes. Each stage of this IS 6313 (Part 3) method is listed in the treatment section of this page.
No soil treatment lasts indefinitely, because the treated barrier weakens over time. We give a written SKUAS service warranty, and its period depends on the treatment carried out and the type of property. If signs such as mud tubes or fresh wings return, book an inspection so we can check the barrier.
The holes are small, drilled along the tile edge where the floor meets the wall, and sealed again once the chemical goes in. We cover furniture and vacuum the dust. Only the room being drilled is kept clear for a short time, and Premise SC has no smell, so you can stay at home through the work.
If you can, yes. Inspecting and treating an empty flat is quicker, because there is no fitted furniture to move and every floor-wall joint can be reached. It also means the kitchen and wardrobes go in on a treated floor edge. Tell your interior contractor so the work is scheduled before fitting starts.
