Premise SC Termiticide

Quick answer

Premise SC is Envu's imidacloprid 30.5% SC termiticide. Mixed at 2.1 ml per litre of water, it is odourless and non-repellent: termites cannot detect it, carry it back to the colony and pass it on. SKUAS uses it to charge and refill every TermiPore reticulation system and for IS 6313 soil treatment.

How Premise SC stops a termite colony

Subterranean termites live in colonies deep in the soil and send workers out to forage. Older repellent chemicals make those workers turn back at the treated soil, so the colony survives and keeps probing for an untreated gap.

Premise SC works differently. Termites cannot sense it, so foraging workers walk through treated soil and pick it up. Imidacloprid acts slowly on the termite nervous system, which gives the workers time to return to the nest and pass it on through grooming and food sharing. Envu calls this the domino effect. That way the chemical reaches termites in the nest that never touched the treated soil.

Dose and quantity

We mix Premise SC at the label dilution of 2.1 ml per litre and apply it at the IS 6313 dose of 5 litres of emulsion per m² of floor area:

What Envu says about Premise SC

According to Envu's own product material, Premise SC is GreenPro certified, has been evaluated by CSIR-CBRI, and imidacloprid is a termiticide recommended in IS 6313. These are the manufacturer's statements; you can read them on the Envu website.

Safety and handling

Harmful if swallowed and very toxic to aquatic life, so it is handled only by trained applicators with PPE. In practice that means:

  • Only trained SKUAS applicators mix and inject it, wearing gloves, masks and eye protection.
  • It goes into the soil under and around the building through the pipe or soil treatment, never into living areas.
  • We keep it away from drains, ponds, wells and water tanks, and take empty containers back with us.
  • Because it is odourless, families, patients and guests are not bothered by smell during or after treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Premise SC is a termiticide made by Envu, formerly Bayer Environmental Science. Its active ingredient is imidacloprid 30.5% in a suspension concentrate (SC) formulation, used for pre- and post-construction termite treatment.
The Envu label dilution is 2.1 ml of Premise SC per litre of water. At the IS 6313 dose of 5 litres per m² of floor area, a 1,000 sq ft floor needs about 465 litres of emulsion, which uses roughly 1 litre of Premise SC.
Termites cannot sense a non-repellent termiticide, so they do not avoid the treated soil. They pick it up while foraging and carry it back to the colony, where it spreads to other termites. Repellent chemicals, by contrast, make termites turn away and look for an untreated gap.
Envu describes Premise SC as odourless, which matters in homes, hospitals and hotels where strong chemical smells cause complaints.
It is safe to use when applied as the label directs, but it is not harmless. The safety data sheet says it is harmful if swallowed and very toxic to aquatic life. That is why only our trained applicators handle it, wearing protective gear, and it goes into the soil under and around the building, not into living areas.
IS 6313 sets out pre-construction soil treatment and the dose of 5 litres of emulsion per square metre of floor area. Commonly used actives include imidacloprid, fipronil, bifenthrin and chlorpyrifos. SKUAS uses Envu Premise SC (imidacloprid 30.5% SC) at 2.1 ml per litre for pre-construction soil treatment and for charging reticulation pipes.
Yes. The TermiPore FAQ lists imidacloprid from a reputed brand as suitable for its pipe. We mix Premise SC at the label dilution for every charge and refill.
